Alice's Adventures Underground
Lewis Carroll's Manuscript

Before publishing his story for the public's enjoyment, Carroll created a manuscript specifically for the muse behind the main character Alice:  Alice Liddell, the child of a friend of the family.

Lewis Carroll wrote this story for Alice herself, but gifted her with the original manuscript in which he wrote a special dedication to her.

In the United States, an edition of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland was published in 1866 in New York..  The original edition was sold to the publishing house Appleton but was virtually identical to the original English edition.  For example, the binding was essentially the same excluding the publishing information at the bottom.
